Jersey, mask of former Edmonton Oilers goalie Grant Fuhr stolen from arena

SPRUCE GROVE, Alta. - Mounties are asking for help to find whoever stole a former Edmonton Oilers goalie's mask and jersey from an arena named after him.

RCMP say there was a break and enter at the Grant Fuhr arena in Spruce Grove, west of Edmonton, on Sunday.

The showcase display inside the arena was damaged and Fuhr's signed, white Oilers jersey and mask on display were taken.

Fuhr, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, led the Oilers to five Stanley Cup championships between 1984 and 1990 and won the Vezina trophy for the best goalie in 1987.

During the 1983-1984 season, Fuhr collected 14 points, which still stands as the single-season record for most points by a goaltender.

Police say the jersey and mask has great sentimental value to Spruce Grove, Fuhr's birthplace.
