Canadiens sign goalie prospect McNiven to three-year entry level contract

MONTREAL - Goaltender Michael McNiven has agreed to a three-year-entry level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The 18-year-old McNiven attended the team's summer development camp on a try-out and earned an invitation to the main camp, also on a try-out The Winnipeg native made 47 saves in a 6-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs' prospects in a rookie tournament two weeks ago in London, Ont.

The six-foot-one McNiven went 15-8-0 in 24 games with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League last season, with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage.
