QMJHL Roundup: Fortin's four-point outing lifts Huskies over Phoenix

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. - Alexandre Fortin scored twice and set up two more as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies downed the visiting Sherbrooke Phoenix 6-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Allan Caron also had a pair of goals for the Huskies (2-1-1) while Mathieu Boucher and Antoine Waked added the others. Gabriel Fontaine tacked on two assists.

Daniel Audette scored once for the Phoenix (0-3-1) and added a helper on a goal from Guillaume Gauthier.

Rouyn-Noranda's Samuel Harvey made 19 saves for the win as Evan Fitzpatrick stopped 30-of-36 shots for Sherbrooke.

The Huskies went 0 for 4 on the power play while the Phoenix scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

VAL-D'OR, Que. — Mathieu Bellemare kicked out 24 shots and Jonathon Masters had a goal and an assist as Gatineau doubled up the Foreurs to remain undefeated.

Yan Pavel Laplante, Dylan Callaghan and Tommy Veilleux also found the back of the net for the Olympiques (4-0-0).

Julien Gauthier and Carl Tremblay scored for Val-d'Or (3-1-0). Etienne Montpetit turned aside 35-of-39 shots in defeat.

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Gabriel Slight had two goals and an assist and Alexis D'Aoust scored once and set up two more as the Cataractes hammered Victoriaville.

Giovanni Fiore, Mathieu Olivier, Alex Pawelczyk, Nicholas Welsh and Charles Tailon also scored for Shawinigan (4-0-0), which got a 13-save outing from Frederic Foulem.

Felix Lauzon and Marc Beckstead responded for the Tigres (1-3-0). James Povall allowed six goals on 22 shots before giving way to Olivier Tremblay, who stopped 14-of-16 shots in 26:14 of relief.

MOOSEHEADS 5 SEA DOGS 1

HALIFAX — Maxime Fortier had a four-point outing — including a hat trick — as the Mooseheads toppled Saint John for their first win of the season.

Vincent Dunn and Arnaud Durandeau also scored for Halifax (1-2-1) while Eric Brassard turned away 21 shots for the win.

Ryan Chaisson supplied the offence Sea Dogs (2-2-0). Alex Bishop's night in net didn't last long, giving up three goals on seven shots in 21:02 of action. Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 22 saves in relief.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — The game was postponed when Rimouski's Samuel Beck was taken to hospital after a blindside hit to the head from Baie-Comeau's Simon Desbiens in the first period.

A league spokesman said a decision on when a makeup game will take place will come at the beginning of next week.

The Oceanic wrote on their Twitter account that Beck was "doing well."
