Minnesota Wild forward Thomas Vanek has resumed skating following June surgery to repair two hernias and is expected to be ready for training camp, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Although the injury bothered Vanek for much of the second half of last season, he said Wednesday that he is progressing and feeling great.

Vanek, 31, scored 21 goals and 52 points in 80 games last season, including 30 points in his final 45 games, but was held to four assists in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He is entering the second year of a three-year, $19.5 million contract he signed with the Wild on July 1, 2014.
