Taylor Pyatt retires after 15-year career: report
Former NHL forward Taylor Pyatt told the Thunder Bay News Watch he will retire after playing professionally for 15 years.

Forward Taylor Pyatt, who played 13 seasons in the NHL, announced his retirement Monday.

Pyatt, 33, last played in the NHL in 2013-14. In 55 games with the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, he had four goals.

Last season, Pyatt played for Geneve-Servette HC of the National League A in Switzerland and had 14 goals and 25 points in 38 games. He had four goals in eight playoff games.

"I had a few more injuries this year, a few more concussions," Pyatt told the Thunder Bay News Watch on Monday. "It's just time for me to sort of step away. I'm proud of what I accomplished in my career, but now's the time to take a little time away from the game and we'll see."

Selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (No. 8) of the 1999 NHL Draft, Pyatt had 140 goals, 280 points and 430 penalty minutes in 859 NHL games with the Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, Rangers and Penguins. He first played in the NHL with the Islanders in 2000-01.

Pyatt didn't rule out the possibility of coaching in the future but said he wouldn't rush into making any decisions.

"I just want to get through the summer here and enjoy myself," he said. "I think it'll start to hit me a little more in the fall when everyone starts going back to training camp and is starting to play again."
