Stars sign defenseman Oleksiak to one-year contract
The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year contract on Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Dallas Morning News reported its value at $875,000.

"Jamie is a young player with great potential who is evolving into a solid all-around defenseman," general manager Jim Nill said. "We look forward to him being an important member of our defense moving forward."

Oleksiak had eight points in 36 games last season. He scored his first NHL goal Oct. 28 against the St. Louis Blues and had a career-high three assists Jan. 3 against the Minnesota Wild.

The 14th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft by the Stars, he has one goal and 10 points in 59 games over three seasons.
