Goaltender Devan Dubnyk signed a six-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Agreement on the contract was announced June 27, when the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported the deal is worth $26 million, an average annual value of $4.33 million, with the highest salaries in the first four years and a limited no-trade clause for part of the contract.
"The most exciting thing for me is knowing I get to be part of a really good hockey team for a long time," Dubnyk told the Star Tribune on June 27. "Getting a chance to play with that group of guys last year was the best experience for me. I'm real excited."
Dubnyk went 27-9-2 with a 1.78 goals-against average, a .936 save percentage and five shutouts with the Wild after he was acquired on Jan. 14 from the Arizona Coyotes, which included making 38 consecutive starts. He was 36-14-4 with a 2.07 GAA and a .929 save percentage in the 2014-15 season.
He won the 2015 Bill Masterton Trophy and finished third in voting for the Vezina Trophy.
"[Dubnyk has] been very clear that he wanted to remain in Minnesota, and we've been adamant about trying to keep him," general manager Chuck Fletcher told the Star Tribune on June 27. "We've been chasing stability in the goaltending position, and we're hopeful that Devan can be a steadying influence back there."
Dubnyk, who was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft (No. 14) has also played with the Oilers and Nashville Predators. He is 97-91-26 with a 2.69 GAA, .914 save percentage and 14 shutouts in 231 regular-season games, and 4-6 with a 2.53 GAA, a .908 save percentage and one shutout in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games, all with the Wild last season.
