Capitals sign Ellis to one-year contract
The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Dan Ellis to a one-year, two-way contract.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Dan Ellis to a one-year, two-way contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Ellis, 35, posted a 4-3-1 record with one shutout, a 2.35 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in eight games with the Florida Panthers last season. The 6'1", 195-pound goaltender made 27 saves on March 14 at Carolina to earn his 15th career NHL shutout. Ellis has earned an 87-79-18 record with 15 shutouts, a 2.79 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 212 career NHL games with Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Carolina and Florida. He was drafted by Dallas in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2000 NHL Draft.
