BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sabres draftee Jack Eichel has arrived in Buffalo, where he's likely to sign a professional contract and skip his final three years of college eligibility.
Photos and video taken by WKBW-TV (http://bit.ly/1LDpQSX ) show the No. 2 overall draft pick arriving at Buffalo-Niagara International Airport on Wednesday. Eichel was greeted by team president Ted Black.
Buffalo drafted the physical 18-year-old centre last week, picking a player who won the 2015 Hobey Baker Award as the top player in college hockey. He had 26 goals and 45 assists in 40 games with Boston University.
Eichel refused to rule out a sophomore return until after the draft. But he has little reason to meet with Buffalo in person except to sign. Rookie deals are capped and he's expected to receive a three-year entry level contract at the maximum value.
Eichel played for Team USA in the IIHF World Championships in May.
