Kelly McCrimmon, general manager and coach of the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, was added as an assistant coach for Canada for the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.

Kelly McCrimmon, general manager and coach of the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, was added as an assistant coach for Canada for the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.

McCrimmon replaces D.J. Smith, who was hired as an assistant coach by the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 16.

Dave Lowry, coach of the Victoria Royals of the WHL, will coach Canada at the 2016 WJC, which will be played in Helsinki, Finland, from Dec. 26-Jan. 5. Joining McCrimmon on Lowry's staff are Dominique Ducharme, coach of the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and Martin Raymond, coach of the Drummondville Voltiguers of the QMJHL.

In addition, Hockey Canada named Stan Butler coach for Canada at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. Butler, the coach of the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League, replaces McCrimmon in that role.

Shaun Clouston, coach of the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL, was added as an assistant to Butler in place of Sheldon Keefe, who was hired as coach of the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on June 8. Also on the staff is Darren Rumble, coach of the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL.
