CHICAGO - Fresh off their third Stanley Cup title in six seasons, the Chicago Blackhawks have to make some big decisions in a short period of time.
The NHL draft begins on June 26 in Florida, and free agency starts on July 1. Key forwards Brandon Saad and Marcus Kruger are eligible for restricted free agency, and the Blackhawks likely will have to shed some contracts this summer to comply with the salary cap.
But general manager Stan Bowman is used to being busy this time of year.
The Blackhawks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 in Game 6 on Monday night for the franchise's sixth NHL title. It was the first time since 1938 that the team wrapped up the title at home, and the players' celebration in their locker room ran into early Tuesday morning.
