Hurricanes sign center Ryan to one-year contract
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed center Derek Ryan to a one-year, two-way contract.

RALEIGH, NCRon Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed center Derek Ryan to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Ryan $600,000 at the NHL level, or $150,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level in 2015-16, with a guarantee of $185,000.

"Derek is a skilled, playmaking center," said Francis. "He's taken a bit of an unconventional path, but has earned a chance to play professionally in North America after having success at every level in Europe. We're excited that he chose our organization."
