Maple Leafs sign Johnson, Brennan to contracts
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that the hockey club has signed forward Andreas Johnson to a three-year entry level contract. The Maple Leafs have also re-signed defenceman T.J. Brennan to a one-year contract.

Johnson, 20, registered 35 points (22 goals, 13 assists) in 55 regular season games with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League during the 2014-15 season. Johnson also collected four points (two goals, two assists) in eight playoff games with Frolunda. The Gavle, Sweden native’s 22 goals led his team and was the fifth-highest total in the SHL, while his 35 points ranked third among Frolunda skaters. In 2013-14, Johnson was named the Swedish Hockey League rookie of the year and won a silver medal with Sweden at the World Junior Hockey Championships. He was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the 7th round (202nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Brennan, 26, skated in six regular season games with the Maple Leafs during 2014-15, collecting one assist and nine penalty minutes. The Willingboro, New Jersey native also registered 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists) in 73 AHL games with both the Rockford IceHogs and Toronto Marlies this past season. Brennan, who has 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 46 career NHL games, was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Spencer Abbott on February 26, 2015. He is a former winner of the Eddie Shore Award as the American Hockey League’s top defenceman (2013-14). He was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2nd round (31st overall) during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
