Forward Eric Fehr had successful elbow surgery Wednesday, the Washington Capitals said.
"According to the doctors who performed the surgery, if rehabilitation goes well, Eric will be healthy for the start of the 2015-16 regular season," the Capitals said in a statement.
Fehr can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Fehr had 19 goals and 14 assists in 75 regular-season games. He sustained an upper-body injury in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the New York Islanders and missed the next 10 games, returning for Game 7 of the second round against the New York Rangers, when the Capitals were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2-1 overtime loss.
Fehr, the 18th pick in the 2003 NHL Draft by Washington, has 89 goals and 177 points in 454 regular-season games with the Capitals and Winnipeg Jets.
