NEW YORK -- Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brian Boyle is in the lineup for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
Boyle, who did not play in the Lightning’s 2-1 loss in Game 1 on Saturday because of an undisclosed injury, took line rushes with Brenden Morrow and J.T. Brown before the game.
In 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games, Boyle has a goal and an assist, and Lightning captain Steven Stamkos discussed Boyle's importance to the team Monday.
"He's a great leader in this room," Stamkos said. "He's played a lot of hockey at this time of the year. It was tough for him to not be in the lineup for us. Great on the penalty kill, great on faceoffs, so hopefully he can get a chance to come back tonight.
Boyle, who spent the previous five seasons with the Rangers, played in all 82 games during the regular season and had 15 goals and nine assists.
Forwards Jonathan Marchessault and Vladislav Namestnikov, who played in Game 1, were scratched.
Nikita Nesterov is in the lineup, giving Tampa Bay seven defensemen.
