Babcock done meeting teams, decision soon: report
Mike Babcock and Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland will meet Tuesday. It could be their final meeting before Babcock decides where he will coach next season.

Mike Babcock said Monday he is done speaking with NHL teams about becoming their coach and will announce a decision Wednesday.

The Detroit Red Wings coach will meet with general manager Ken Holland on Tuesday, Babcock told Mlive.com.

"Just going to revisit everything one more time," Babcock said. "I've talked to all the teams I'm talking to."

The Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues asked permission to speak with Babcock, according to the website.

"I learned a lot. I talked to lots of good people," Babcock told writer Ansar Khan. "I kept Kenny abreast the whole time. We'll talk one more time [Tuesday] and then I'll sit down with my family one more time [Tuesday] night and make a decision."

Babcock and Holland had been in Prague at the IIHF World Championship, which ended Sunday.

"We plan to meet here over the next day or two," Holland told ESPN.com on Monday. "While he was in Prague, I know he talked to some people. I would anticipate by the end of this week Mike will make a decision. Beyond that, I don't know much more, because it's not me making the decision."

Babcock reportedly was scheduled to speak with the Sharks this week, ESPN.com said. He initiated contact with the Sharks, CSN Bay Area reported.

Babcock's contract with the Red Wings expires June 30. The Red Wings on May 8 granted him permission to speak with other NHL teams. They want to bring back their coach of the past 10 seasons and were aiming for a resolution by May 25.

Holland said there is a compensation letter teams must sign in order to talk to Babcock; any team that hires Babcock would have to give the Red Wings a third-round pick in the NHL Draft within the next three years.
