Top prospect Connor McDavid named OHL's most outstanding player of the year

TORONTO - Erie Otters forward Connor McDavid is the winner of the Red Tilson Trophy as the Ontario Hockey League's most outstanding player.

He had 44 goals and 76 assists with an OHL-best rating of plus-60 during the regular season.

McDavid finished third in the league with 120 points in just 47 games played.

The 18-year-old from Newmarket, Ont., is expected to be selected with the first overall pick at the NHL Entry Draft on June 26 in Sunrise, Fla.

McDavid finished well ahead of Barrie Colts forward Joseph Blandisi in the media voting for the OHL honour.

McDavid will be the OHL's nominee for the Canadian Hockey League player of the year award at this month's CHL Awards ceremony in Quebec City.
