NBC's Mike Emrick wins third Sports Emmy
Mike "Doc" Emrick of NBC/NBCSN was awarded the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality, Play-by-Play at the annual ceremony on Tuesday.

Mike "Doc" Emrick of NBC/NBCSN was awarded the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality, Play-by-Play at the annual ceremony on Tuesday.

Emrick, the lead play-by-play voice for the "NHL on NBC," also won last year and in 2011.

Emrick did television play-by-play for the New Jersey Devils for 21 seasons on the MSG Network, through the 2010-11 season. He was the voice of the Philadelphia Flyers from 1988-93.

Emrick received the Lester Patrick Award in 2004, and the Hockey Hall of Fame Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to hockey broadcasting in 2008.

His win in 2011 was the first national Emmy for a hockey broadcaster.
