WHL Roundup: Goulbourne, Whistle lead Rockets to Game 4 win to even series

PORTLAND, Ore. - Tyrell Goulbourne's power-play goal in the second period held up as the winner as the Kelowna Rockets evened their Western Hockey League playoff series with a 3-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday.

Leon Draisaitl had a goal and as assist for the Rockets, who tied the Western Conference final at two games apiece. Chance Braid also scored and Jackson Whistle stopped 40 shots.

Chase De Leo and Nicolas Petan supplied the offence for the Winterhawks, who got a 25-save performance from Adin Hill.

The Rockets were 1 for 3 on the power play while Portland failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

Kelowna hosts Game 5 on Friday.

WHEAT KINGS 8 HITMEN 3

CALGARY — Peter Quenneville had a goal and two assists to pace Brandon past the Hitmen for a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference final.

Colton Waltz, Jayce Hawryluk, John Quenneville and Morgan Klimchuk had a goal and an assist apiece for the Wheat Kings, who can close out the series with a win at home on Friday. Tyler Coulter and Braylon Shmyr also scored while Time McGauley tacked on three helpers.

Pavel Karnaukhov and Radel Fazleev replied for Calgary.
