Crawford had started 57 consecutive Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Blackhawks until he was replaced by rookie Scott Darling during the Blackhawks' first-round series against the Nashville Predators. Crawford allowed three goals on nine shots in Game 1 and was pulled in favor of Darling, who stopped all 42 shots he faced to lead Chicago to a double-overtime victory.
Darling started Games 3 through 6 but was pulled in Game 6 in favor of Crawford after allowing three goals on 12 shots. The Blackhawks again staged a comeback, winning 4-3 and eliminating the Predators in the best-of-7 series.
