Weise's heroics spark Canadiens to Game 3 victory
Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise is developing a reputation for delivering in the big moments of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise is developing a reputation for delivering in the big moments of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Weise added two more postseason goals to his resume Sunday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre. Weise's second goal at 8:47 of overtime gave Montreal a 2-1 win and a 3-0 lead against Ottawa in the best-of-7 series but it was his first goal with 5:47 left in regulation that proved to be the game's turning point.

Canadiens forward Brandon Prust gathered the puck to Craig Anderson's right. Looking for Weise in front of the net, Prust's pass attempt deflected off Anderson's pad and into Weise's waiting glove. Weise dropped the puck in front of his stick and fired a shot into the open net.

Game 4 is Wednesday in Ottawa (7 p.m. ET; USA, CBC, TVA Sports).

He's also scored the overtime goal in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round last season to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning and jumpstart the Canadiens' to a four-game sweep. He also scored the game-winner in regulation of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Second Round that led to a seven-game series win against the Boston Bruins and a spot in the Eastern Conference Final.

Weise had a career-high 10 goals and 29 points with a plus-21 rating in 79 games of the regular season.

He has five goals in the past two Stanley Cup Playoffs, three of them are game-winners.

"I don't know if you can call me [Mr. Clutch] yet," he said. "I thought I had some good chances early in the series and just couldn't put them in; a couple of 2-on-1's and hit posts. I don't know what it is. Just every game gets so intense, you're so focused, I don't know. I don't really have answer for you."
