Battalion down Colts 7-5 in Game 5, advance to Eastern Conference final

BARRIE, Ont. - Nick Paul and Mathew Santos each had a pair of goals as the North Bay Battalion downed the Barrie Colts 7-5 on Saturday in Game 5 to advance to the Ontario Hockey League's Eastern Conference final.

Brenden Miller and Mike Amadio had a goal and two assists apiece for the Battalion, who took the second-round series 4-1 and will now play the Oshawa Generals.

Nick Moutrey also scored for North Bay as Jake Smith made 33 saves for the victory.

Kevin Labanc struck twice for the Colts while Andrew Mangiapane, Michael Webster and Matthew Kreis added the others.

Barrie's Mackenzie Blackwood turned aside 29-of-36 shots in defeat.

Colts forward Brendan Lemieux was assessed a game misconduct at 19:49 of the third period for abuse of an official.

The Battalion went 3 for 8 on the power play while Barrie scored twice on four chances with the man advantage.
