QMJHL Roundup: Barbashev nets four as Wildcats take series lead over Mooseheads

FREDERICTON - Put Ivan Barbashev in a new city and he still produces.

Barbashev had four goals and two assists as the Moncton Wildcats beat the Halifax Mooseheads 7-3 on Friday in Game 5 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Moncton now holds a 3-2 series lead in the second-round matchup.

The game was meant to be a home contest for the Wildcats but was relocated to the Aitken University Centre in Fredericton, N.B., due to a scheduling conflict.

Zack MacEwen, Stephen Johnson and Cameron Askew also found the back of the net for Moncton. Conor Garland tacked on six assists.

Ryan Falkenham, Kelly Bent and Timo Meier scored for the Mooseheads, who host Game 6 on Sunday.

Halifax's Connor Moynihan received a minor for roughing, major for aggressor and game misconduct at 19:56 of the third period.

Alex Dubeau turned aside 22 shots in net for the Wildcats as Eric Brassard made 36 saves in the loss.

Moncton scored once on four power-play chances while the Mooseheads converted on their lone opportunity.
