QMJHl Roundup: Burke scores OT winner, Wildcats even series with Mooseheads

HALIFAX - Taylor Burke scored 16:20 into overtime as the Moncton Wildcats beat the Halifax Mooseheads 3-2 on Wednesday to even their second-round, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series at two games apiece.

Moncton's Jacob Sweeney had a first-period, power-play goal and assisted on Dominic Talbot-Tassi's marker seven minutes earlier.

The Mooseheads stormed back from the 2-0 deficit with second-period goals from Timo Meier and Kelly Bent.

Wildcats goaltender Alex Dubeau made 35 saves. Halifax's Eric Brassard stopped 37 shots in the losing effort.

Moncton hosts Game 5 on Friday.

GATINEAU, Que. — Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 saves as Rimouski blanked the Olympiques to take a 3-1 lead in their second-round series.

Anthony Chapados had a goal and an assist for the Oceanic, and Tyler Bolland and Alexis Loiseau, into an empty net, also scored.

Francois Brassard started in net for Gatineau but left the game after giving up two goals on 12 shots through 24:21. Nicolas Lachance stopped all 21 shots he faced in 35:07 of relief.

FOREURS 4 DRAKKAR 3 (2OT)

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Julien Gauthier scored a power-play goal 10 minutes into the second overtime period as Val-d'Or completed a three-goal comeback and staved off elimination with a Game 4 win over the Drakkar.

Alexis Pepin, Anthony Richard and Simon Tremblay scored three consecutive goals for the Foreurs, who were down 3-0 after the first period.

Maxime St-Cyr scored twice for Baie-Comeau, which can close out the series with a Game 5 win at home on Friday. Luca Ciampini had the other goal.
