Ducks scratch Getzlaf for second straight game

ANAHEIM -- Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf was scratched Wednesday to give him another night of rest.

SOG: 186 | +/-: 14
The move came after coach Bruce Boudreau left open the possibility of Getzlaf sitting when he did not participate in the morning skate before Anaheim played the Dallas Stars at Honda Center.

It is the second straight game that Getzlaf has been scratched. Boudreau suggested after the Ducks' 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche last Friday that Getzlaf wasn't fully healthy, although Getzlaf has practiced in each of the past two days.

Anaheim, the Pacific Division champion, is trying to clinch the top seed in the Western Conference. A regulation win against the Stars will assure the Ducks of the top seed through the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They enter the game two points ahead of the Central Division-leading St. Louis Blues.

Rickard Rakell took Getzlaf's place as top-line center in pregame warm-ups.

Right wing Tim Jackman was activated from injured reserve. He missed 16 games with a lower-body injury. Left wing Matt Beleskey and defenseman Clayton Stoner are expected to return from injury as well.
