Flames score 3 goals in 2nd period, hang on for 5-3 win over host Stars

DALLAS - Jiri Hudler, Raphael Diaz and Johnny Gaudreau scored within a span of 6:49 of the second period, and the Calgary Flames held on for a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night.

After that barrage, Dallas coach Lindy Ruff replaced goalie Kari Lehtonen with Jhonas Enroth. The third-place Flames moved three points ahead of Los Angeles in the Pacific Division.

Calgary led 4-2 after two periods. Jonas Hiller allowed a third-period goal to Dallas defenceman Jason Demers, but made 15 of his 36 saves in the final frame.

Dennis Wideman, Gaudreau and Hudler all had a goal and assist for Calgary, and Mikael Backlund added an empty-net goal with 7 seconds left.

Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist, and Lehtonen allowed four goals on 19 shots for Dallas. Enroth stopped all five shots he faced.
