Bozak's four-point night lifts Leafs over Senators 4-3 in overtime

TORONTO - Eric Brewer scored in overtime as the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Ottawa Senators 4-3 Saturday at Air Canada Centre.

Tyler Bozak had a hat trick for the Maple Leafs (28-42-6), who snapped a seven-game skid.

Mark Stone, Curtis Lazar and Kyle Turris supplied the offence for the Senators (37-25-12), who fell behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild-card position in the Eastern Conference after Boston beat the New York Rangers earlier in the day.

James Reimer, who came into the game 10-3-1 in his career against the Senators, stopped 22-of-25 shots. Craig Anderson made 27 saves for Ottawa.

The 33-year-old Anderson was making just his third start since Jan. 21 after watching rookie Andrew Hammond go 14-1-1 in his place.

Stone opened the scoring 4:25 into the second period after taking a feed from former Maple Leaf Clarke MacArthur. Stone beat Reimer blocker side with a wrist shot for his 19th of the season.

Reimer had to be sharp only 24 seconds after Stone's goal, stopping Zach Smith on a breakaway to keep the score 1-0.

It didn't take long, however, for Ottawa to get its second goal as Lazar one-timed a pass from Jean-Gabriel Pageau at 5:59.

Toronto got on the board 3:13 into the third when van Riemsdyk backhanded a pass to Bozak, who swatted home his 20th of the season past Anderson.

The Leafs picked up some momentum following Bozak's goal and Joffrey Lupul had a great chance midway through the period to tie the game but he put the puck wide of the open net.

Kyle Turris scored a power-play goal at 9:30 to put Ottawa ahead 3-1 but Toronto stormed back.

Bozak scored his second of the night while on the power play after taking a feed from van Riemsdyk at 11:29 and then potted his third with Reimer on the bench for an extra attacker to make it 3-3.

Anderson's first test came 2:24 into the game when he robbed David Booth from the slot with a glove save. That would be Toronto's only shot on net in the first 10:46 of action.

Midway through the first, Lindstrom dangled the puck between his own legs and cut in on Anderson before being hacked down by an Ottawa defenceman, earning a penalty shot in the process. Lindstrom deked backhand to forehand but Anderson got his right pad down to stop the puck.

Ottawa went 1 for 1 on the power play while Toronto went 1 for 3.

Notes: Garrett Gamble, an 11-year-old Duck Lake, Sask., native had his dream fulfilled through the Children's Wish Foundation and was signed to a one-day contract by the Maple Leafs Saturday morning. Garrett was taken for a skate by former Leaf Wendel Clark and dropped the puck for a ceremonial faceoff. ... Hammond missed the game with a lower-body injury and is day-to-day.
