OHL Roundup: Ritchie nets five points as Greyhounds rout Spitfires 12-1

SAULT STE MARIE, Ont. - Nick Ritchie and three other Greyhounds scored twice as Sault Ste. Marie downed a depleted Windsor Spitfires squad 12-1 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Anthony DeAngelo, Blake Speers and Sergey Tolchinsky also struck twice for the Greyhounds (53-12-2), who won their third in a row. Bryan Moore, Jared McCann, Darnell Nurse and Jean Dupuy rounded out the attack.

Slater Doggett provided the lone goal for Windsor (24-40-4), which only dressed 15 skaters. The loss was its 11th straight.

Brandon Halverson started in goal for Sault Ste. Marie and turned away 11-of-12 shots in 30:51. Joseph Raaymakers went the rest of the way, making 17 saves.

Brendan Johnston played 40 minutes for the Spitfires, kicking out 13-of-22 shots. Alex Fotinos played the remainder of the game, making two saves.

The Greyhounds converted once on four power plays while Windsor went 0 for 1.

ICEDOGS 5 STEELHEADS 2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Anthony DiFruscia had a pair of goals to open the game as the IceDogs topped Mississauga.

Josh Ho-Sang scored in the second period and added two assists for Niagara (37-26-4) which won its fourth straight. Mitchell Fitzmorris and Brendan Perlini chipped in with goals in the third.

Bobby MacIntyre and Stefan LeBlanc found the back of the net for the Steelheads (24-40-3).

BULLS 6 WOLVES 3

BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Brett Gustavsen had two goals and two assists as the Bulls doubled up Sudbury.

Adam Laishram also struck twice for Belleville (27-32-8) with Justin Lemcke and Niki Petti adding the other goals. Michael Cramarossa had three assists.

Charley Graaskamp, Ivan Kashtanov and Chad Heffernan scored for the Wolves (12-53-2).

OTTERS 5 WHALERS 1

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Dylan Strome had a goal and two assists as Erie downed the Whalers for its ninth straight victory.

Connor McDavid, and Kyle Maksimovich each added a goal and an assist for the Otters (49-14-4). Alex DeBrincat and Taylor Raddysh rounded out the attack.

Yannick Rathgeb spoiled the shutout with a power-play goal late in the third period for Plymouth (23-38-7), which dropped its eighth straight.

SPIRIT 3 RANGERS 1

SAGINAW, Mich. — Mitchell Stephens' second-period goal stood as the winner as the Spirit got past Kitchener.

Adam McPhail opened the scoring for Saginaw (29-36-3), while Vladislav Kodola added an empty-net goal.

Max Iafrate answered with a goal in the second for the Rangers (32-25-10).

FRONTENACS 4 COLTS 2

BARRIE, Ont. — Jared Steege found the back of the net late in the second period and Kingston went on to double up the Colts.

Roland McKeown and Lawson Crouse also chipped in for the Frontenacs (32-27-8), while Juho Lammikko had a short-handed goal in the third.

Justin Scott and Joseph Blandisi scored in the first period for Barrie (41-24-3).

ATTACK 4 STING 3

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Daniel Milne scored twice, including the winner, as the Attack edged Sarnia for their third straight victory.

Thomas Schemitsch and Kyle Platzer also chipped in for Owen Sound (35-24-9).

Anthony Salinitri, Patrick White and Alexandre Renaud provided the offence for the Sting (29-31-7).
