WHL Roundup: Bjorkstrand, Henry lead Winterhawks over Silvertips

EVERETT, Wash. - Oliver Bjorkstrand and Adam Henry each had a pair of goals as the Portland Winterhawks downed the host Everett Silvertips 6-1 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Nicolas Petan scored once and set up two more for the Winterhawks (40-20-5), who are 9-0-2 in their past 11 outings, and Keoni Texeira added the other.

Dawson Leedahl supplied the scoring for the Silvertips (40-20-7), who had their three-game win streak halted.

Portland's Adin Hill made 27 saves for the win. Carter Hart started in net for Everett but was yanked after allowing four goals on 23 shots. Austin Lotz stopped 10-of-12 shots in 27:56 of relief.

The Winterhawks went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Silvertips failed to convert on three chances with the man advantage.

REBELS 6 BLADES 4

RED DEER, Alta. — Brooks Maxwell scored four times and Riley Sheen added three helpers as the Rebels beat Saskatoon for their fourth straight victory.

Scott Feser had a pair of goals for Red Deer (36-21-10) while Rylan Toth made 26 saves for the win.

Cameron Hebig found the back of the net twice for the Blades (19-45-4), who are on a five-game skid, and Mason McCarty and Nikita Soshnin added the others. Nik Amundrud stopped 33 shots in defeat.

PATS 4 BRONCOS 1

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Jesse Gabriel struck twice and Tyler Brown made 29 saves as Regina handed the Broncos their seventh loss in a row.

Pavel Padakin added a goal and an assist for the Pats (36-22-9), who also got a goal from Jake Leschyshyn.

Jay Merkley scored for Swift Current (30-32-5). Landon Bow stopped 23-of-27 shots in a losing cause.

Regina's Braden Christoffer was assessed five and a game for checking from behind at 8:01 of the first period.

BLAZERS 7 COUGARS 4

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Cole Ully had a goal and two assists and Connor Ingram made 32 saves as the Blazers got past Prince George.

Marc McNulty, Jake Kryski, Matt Revel, Nick Chyzowski, Jesse Zaharichuk and Michael Fora also scored for Kamloops (26-34-7).

Tomas Andrlik had a goal and two helpers for the Cougars (28-34-5) while Chase Witala, Brad Morrison and Cal Babych produced a goal apiece. Ty Edmonds stopped 39-of-45 shots in defeat.

ROYALS 6 ROCKETS 3

KELOWNA, B.C. — Coleman Vollrath made 44 saves and Tyler Soy registered a hat trick as Victoria doubled up the Rockets.

Brandon Magee, Austin Carroll and Brandon Fushimi also scored for the Royals (36-27-4).

Nick Merkley led Kelowna (50-12-5) with a pair of goals while Devante Stephens had the other. Jackson Whistle made 20 saves in a losing effort.
