Lamoriello not on Devils bench but role unchanged
Lou Lamoriello is not on the bench for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild, instead watching the game from the press box.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Lou Lamoriello was not on the bench for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild but said his role as co-coach has not changed.

He watched the Devils' 6-2 loss from the press box; co-coaches Adam Oates and Scott Stevens were at ice level.

"I wanted to watch the game from a different area," Lamoriello said while giving the postgame press conference. "Just to see something a little different."

He did not say where he would be for the Devils' game Thursday at the Colorado Avalanche.

Lamoriello had been behind the bench with Oates and Stevens since Peter DeBoer was fired on Dec. 26.

New Jersey is 16-12-3 under Lamoriello, Oates and Stevens.
