Penguins goalie prospect earns 4th straight shutout
Pittsburgh Penguins goalie prospect Matt Murray made 32 saves for his fourth consecutive AHL shutout in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' 3-0 win against the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday.

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie prospect Matthew Murray made 32 saves for his fourth consecutive shutout in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' 3-0 win against the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday.

Murray, 20, has not allowed a goal in 245 minutes and 22 seconds. The American Hockey League record for longest shutout streak is 268:17, set by Barry Brust of the Abbotsford Heat in 2012. The second-longest streak belongs to Hockey Hall of Famer Johnny Bower, who went 249:51 without allowing a goal with the Cleveland Barons in 1957.

Murray has a chance to break the record when Wilkes-Barre/Scranton plays at the Springfield Falcons on Sunday.

Murray was Pittsburgh's third-round pick (No. 83) in the 2012 NHL Draft. He is 17-8-2 with a 1.59 goals-against average and nine shutouts this season. He has won seven of eight starts since the AHL's All-Star break with a 0.54 GAA, a .980 save percentage and six shutouts.
