The New York Rangers go to one of their least-favorite places, Joe Louis Arena, for the Wednesday Night Rivalry game against the Detroit Red Wings (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN1).
Detroit rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat New York on Dec. 6, extending its run of success against the Rangers at The Joe to 7-0-1. The last time the Rangers won in regulation at Detroit was a 3-2 victory Jan. 30, 1999, and they are 7-21-4-1 in their 33 visits since the building opened midway through the 1979-80 season.
But the Rangers have been one of the NHL's best road teams this season. They rank fourth in points percentage on the road (.638) and are 15-5-0 in their past 20 games away from Madison Square Garden.
New York will be facing a Detroit team that's playing its first home game after going 4-1-1 on a road trip that included a three-game swing through California and ended with a 4-3 victory against the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
