NEWARK, N.J. -- Nashville Predators forward Mike Fisher admits there's nothing better than being a father for the first time.
Fisher and his wife, country music star Carrie Underwood, announced on Tuesday the birth of their first child on Feb. 27, Isaiah Michael Fisher.
After discussing what went wrong in Nashville's 3-1 loss against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday, the 34-year-old veteran was all smiles when asked about the birth of his son.
"We were excited; there's nothing better than being a dad," Fisher said. "Obviously the important thing is everyone is feeling good and mom's feeling good. We're definitely blessed to have him join us in our lives. There's no better feeling."
Fisher, who has been married to Underwood since 2010, has scored two of his 16 goals this season since the birth of Isaiah. He has three goals in the past four games for the Predators (41-17-7).
"It's easier to put a smile on your face when you mention him after a bad game so that puts things in perspective."
Underwood released a photograph on Twitter of the hand of their son on Tuesday and wrote: "God has blessed us with an amazing gift!"
