Hammond, Subban and Malkin named NHL's three stars of the week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond has been named the NHL's first star of the week.

Hammond went 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average, .978 save percentage and two shutouts to backstop the Senators to three wins last week.

The Senators have now won five straight games overall to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.

Hammond stopped 25 to record his first career shutout in a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. He followed that performance with a 35-save shutout in a 1-0 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, becoming the second goaltender in NHL history to post consecutive road shutouts against the Ducks and Kings.

He capped the week with 28 saves in a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban had a goal and a league-high five assists in three games to win second-star honours.

Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin was named the third star after putting up two goals and four assists in two games.
