Defenseman Mark Pysyk has been released from the hospital after collapsing Saturday afternoon, Buffalo Sabres coach Ted Nolan told the Buffalo News.
"It seems everything is OK and that's a great thing," Nolan said.
Pysyk, who was reassigned by the Sabres to Rochester of the American Hockey League on Friday and played in the Americans' 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Marlies that night, was playing pick-up basketball when he collapsed, according to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
Pysyk was said to be fairly alert and his vital signs close to normal when he was transported.
Pysyk played in three games this week for the Sabres after being recalled, and he scored the game-winning goal Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 23rd pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, he has four goals and 15 points in 70 NHL games over parts of three seasons with Buffalo.
Pysyk played for the Sabres this week on a pair with Andrej Meszaros, who said he did not see any signs of physical difficulty.
"I would have no clue. He seemed fine to me," Meszaros told the Buffalo News following a 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday. "He played very well. That would be news to me. He was unbelievable. I enjoyed playing with him. It was fun to see him come up and play well like he did."
