QMJHL Roundup: Carozza scores overtime winner as Remparts edge Screaming Eagles

QUEBEC - Massimo Carozza scored his second goal of the game 2:15 into overtime as the Quebec Remparts slipped past the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-5 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Anthony Duclair also had a pair of goals in the second period and added an assist for the Remparts (36-21-3), who snapped a two-game skid. Vladimir Tkachev scored once and had three assists while Marc-Olivier Roy added the other.

Evgeny Svechnikov chipped in with two goals for Cape Breton (26-26-6). Jeremie Beaudin, Phelix Martineau and Marcus Hinds rounded out the attack.

Montreal Canadiens draft pick Zachary Fucale stopped 21 shots for the win. Alexandre Belanger started for the Screaming Eagles and stopped all eight shots he faced in 20 minutes. Miguel Sullivan went the rest of the way, making 26 saves.

Both teams went 1 for 3 on the power play.

OLYMPIQUES 7 WILDCATS 3

MONCTON, N.B. — Valentin Zykov scored twice in the first period and added an assist as Gatineau got past the Wildcats.

Louick Marcotte, Alex Dostie, Marc Beckstead, Yakov Trenin and Tommy Veilleux supplied the rest of the offence for the Olympiques (24-30-5).

Jacob Sweeney — on the power play — and Bronson Beaton opened the scoring for Moncton (39-17-3) in the first. Taylor Burke added the other.

OCEANIC 8 TITAN 0

BATHURST, N.B. — Jan Kostalek and Vincent Dunn each had a goal and two assists, while Philippe Desrosiers made 14 saves as Rimouski shut out Acadie-Bathurst.

Anthony DeLuca, Justin Samson, Tyler Boland, Francois Beauchemin, Guillaume McSween and Michael Joly rounded out the Oceanic (39-15-4) attack.

Daniel Vautour started in goal for the Titan (15-38-6), turning away 16-of-21 shots in 32:25. Reilly Pickard went the rest of the way, stopping 10 shots in 27:35.

SEA DOGS 7 ISLANDERS 3

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Daniel Del Paggio scored the first of five Sea Dogs goals in the second period as they downed Charlottetown.

Mark Tremaine, Mathieu Joseph, Adam Marsh and Spencer Smallman also chipped in during the period for Saint John (30-21-9). Justice Dundas and Thomas Chabot had power-play goals in the third. Nathan Noel added four assists.

Ross Johnston struck twice and had an assist for the Islanders (28-26-4). Oliver Cooper also scored.

DRAKKAR 4 MOOSEHEADS 2

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Anthony Beauchamp scored the eventual winner as the Drakkar held on to double Halifax.

Jamin Boutet, Maxime St-Cyr and Beauchamp helped Baie-Comeau (33-19-8) jump out to a 3-0 lead to start the game. Luca Ciampini chipped in with his 33rd goal of the season.

Philippe Gadoury and Ryan Falkenham had goals for the Mooseheads (29-24-6) in the third period.

HUSKIES 6 VOLTIGEURS 3

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Mathieu Lemay scored his 41st of the season as the Huskies snapped a five-game losing streak by doubling up Drummondville.

Jeremy Lauzon, Philippe Myers, Ryan Penny, Julien Nantel and Antoine Waked supplied the rest of the offence for Rouyn-Noranda (28-27-4).

Joey Ratelle, Julien Avon and Frederic Aube found the back of the net for the Voltigeurs (24-32-3).

Redgie Bois of the Huskies was ejected at 19:48 of the third period after receiving a major penalty for checking from behind.

VAL-D'OR, Que. — Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant had the eventual winner as the Foreurs won their seventh in a row by edging Shawinigan.

Samuel Hould, Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Anthony Beauregard also found the back of the net for Val-d'Or (29-22-8).

Gabriel Slight, Brandon Gignac and Anthony Beauvillier scored for the Cataractes (32-23-3).

TIGRES 7 PHOENIX 4

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Angelo Miceli had a hat trick and added an assist as the Tigres used a big third period to beat Sherbrooke.

Samuel Blais scored once and had four assists for Victoriaville (26-28-6), which had five third-period goals. Gabriel Gagne struck twice and Pascal Laberge added the other.

Tim Wieser had two goals and an assist for the Phoenix (32-23-5). Carl Neill had a goal and three assists while Cameron Darcy also scored.
