OHL Roundup: McDavid with six-point night as Otters double up Storm

ERIE, Pa. - Connor McDavid scored four goals and added two assists— extending his point streak to 22 games— while Dylan Strome tacked on four assists as the Erie Otters doubled up the visiting Guelph Storm 8-4 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action.

McDavid now has 36 goals and 98 points in 37 games, which puts him fourth in league scoring despite missing time for a broken hand and the world junior hockey championships in January. The 17-year-old centre has only been held off the scoresheet in one game all season.

Strome, meanwhile, is second in OHL scoring with 35 goals and 104 points in 57 contests. London Knights forward Mitch Marner leads all skaters with 110 points in 53 outings.

Nicholas Baptiste scored once and set up three more for the Otters (40-13-4) while Darren Raddysh, TJ Fergus and Nick Betz added the others.

Erie's Devin Williams made 18 saves for the win.

Pius Suter, Chris Marchese, Marc Stevens and Jason Dickinson scored for the Storm (33-22-4), who got a 29-save outing from Justin Dickinson.

Otters forward Cory Genovese was handed a game misconduct for checking to the head at 6:04 of the second period.

Erie went 2 for 4 on the power play while Guelph failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Jack Flinn made 25 saves for his first-career shutout as the Attack blanked Barrie for their fifth win in a row.

Thomas Schemitsch, Holden Cook and Kyle Platzer supplied the offence for Owen Sound (28-19-9).

Mackenzie Blackwood turned away 31-of-34 shots for the Colts (37-19-2), who lost for the first time in three outings.

FRONTENACS 7 BULLS 3

BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Sam Bennett scored once and set up two more in his season debut as Kingston toppled the Bulls.

Bennett, a Calgary Flames prospect and fourth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, suited up for the first time since recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.

Lawson Crouse had a pair of goals for the Frontenacs (23-25-8) while Spencer Watson matched Bennett with a goal and two assists. Jared Steege, Roland McKeown and Juho Lammikko each had a goal and an assist to round out the attack while Jeremy Helvig made 34 saves for the win.

Justin Lemcke, Matt Luff and David Tomasek scored for Belleville (24-27-7). Charlie Graham kicked out 30-of-34 shots before giving way to Connor Hicks, who allowed three goals on seven shots in 13:19 of relief.
