QMJHL Roundup: DeLuca scores twice on power play as Oceanic beat Sea Dogs

RIMOUSKI, Que. - Anthony DeLuca had a pair of power-play goals and added an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic won a penalty-filled game 7-3 against the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Christopher Clappeton scored shorthanded and on the power play for Rimouski (35-13-4) while Jan Kostalek, Deven St-Hilaire and Vincent Dunn also scored. Alexis Loiseau picked up three assists.

Braydon Blight and Spencer Smallman had power-play goals for Saint John (28-19-8) and Mathieu Joseph added a short-handed goal.

The Oceanic finished the game going 3 for 11 with the man advantage while the Sea Dogs went 2 for 10 on the power play.

The two clubs combined 95 penalty minutes. Saint John's Bokondji was ejected at 12:26 of the second period for physical abuse of officials.

An altercation at 6:48 of the third had Saint John's Jason Bell and Rimouski's Anthony Chapados receiving game misconducts for fighting after the original altercation. Samuel Morin of the Oceanic was also ejected in the same stoppage for checking from behind.

Louis-Philip Guindon got the win in net, stopping 26 shots. Alex Bishop made 36 saves in the loss.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Samuel Blais and Antoine Marcoux each had a pair of goals to lead the Tigres over Baie-Comeau.

Danick Crete and Mathieu Ayotte also chipped in for Victoriaville (23-26-6), which scored six straight to end the game.

Frederic Gamelin opened the scoring 3:14 into the first period for the Drakkar (31-17-8).

CATARACTES 4 ISLANDERS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Alex Pawelczyk struck twice in the third period as Shawinigan won its third straight by topping the Islanders.

James Phelan — shorthanded — and Dennis Yan also scored for the Cataractes (30-21-3).

Spenser Cobbold answered with under a minute remaining in the third period for Charlottetown (27-24-4).

MOOSEHEADS 3 SCREAMING EAGLES 1

HALIFAX — Timo Meier broke a tie in the third period on the power play as the Mooseheads slipped past Cape Breton.

Maxime Fortier tied the game at one in the second for Halifax (27-23-4) with Samuel Leblanc adding an empty-netter.

Marcus Hinds opened the scoring on the man advantage for the Screaming Eagles (24-25-5).
