OHL Roundup: Mangiapane with four-point outing as Colts down Spirit 6-4

SAGINAW, Mich. - Andrew Mangiapane scored one of five goals in the third period for Barrie and added three assists as the Colts beat the Saginaw Spirit 6-4 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Joseph Blandisi, Brandon Prophet, Kevin Labanc, Brendan Lemieux and Michael Webster provided the rest of the offence for Barrie (35-17-2), which has now won seven games in a row.

Devon Paliani and Mitchell Stephens had goals in the third for Saginaw (23-27-3). Dylan Sadowy and Tye Felhaber added the others.

Mackenzie Blackwood turned away 19 shots for the win while David Ovsjannikov kicked out 36-of-41 shots in 59:40.

The Colts scored two goals on five power plays while the Spirit went 1 for 9.

ATTACK 5 OTTERS 4 (OT)

ERIE, Pa. — Chris Bigras scored 4:06 into overtime as Owen Sound edged the Otters to snap a two-game losing streak.

Erik Bradford had a pair of goals in regulation for the Attack (24-19-9). Holden Cook and Petrus Palmu added the others.

Connor McDavid had a three-point night for Erie (37-12-4), with two goals. Alex DeBrincat and Kyle Pettit rounded out the attack.

BULLS 7 PETES 5

BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban and Michael Cramarossa each had a pair of goals as the Bulls got past Peterborough.

Brett Gustavsen, Matt Luff and Maurizio Colella also scored as Belleville (22-25-7) snapped a three-game skid.

Michael Clarke struck twice for the Petes (20-27-5), with Jonathan Ang, Matt Spencer and Logan DeNoble supplying the rest of the offence.

GREYHOUNDS 5 WHALERS 0

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Sergey Tolchinsky had a goal and three assists while Brandon Halverson stopped 33 shots as Sault Ste. Marie shut out the Whalers.

Jared McCann scored twice — including once on the power play — for the Greyhounds (41-11-2), who have now won three in a row. Michael Bunting, also on the power play, and Gabe Guertler added the others.

Alex Nedeljkovic turned aside 36 shots for Plymouth (18-31-4).

STING 5 ICEDOGS 4

SARNIA, Ont. — Jordan Kyrou had a pair of goals as the Sting held off a late Niagara comeback to snap their four-game losing streak.

Jakob Chychrun had a power-play goal early in the third period while Nikita Korostelev scored the winner for Sarnia (25-22-7). Noah Bushnell added the other.

Billy Jenkins, Anthony DiFruscia, Carter Verhaeghe and Vince Dunn had goals for the IceDogs (25-24-4), who saw their four-game winning streak came to an end.
