Beanpot Tournament postponed until Feb. 23

The championship and consolation rounds of the 63rd annual Beanpot Tournament, originally scheduled Monday, have been postponed because of inclement weather until Feb. 23 at TD Garden in Boston.

The championship game between Northeastern and Boston University now will be played at 7:30 p.m. ET and the consolation round will feature Harvard against Boston College at 4:30 p.m.

It will feature Boston University freshman Jack Eichel, No. 2 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm list of the top North American skaters eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft. The consolation round boasts Boston College defenseman Noah Hanifin, No. 3 on Central Scouting's midterm ranking.

The two-week delay, according to BostonHerald.com, has to do with the availability of the Garden.

"Certainly, we were convinced that there was going to be heavy snow [on Monday]," vice president of events for TD Garden Steve Nazro said. "The Boston schools are going to be closed and at least one of the four [Beanpot] schools will be closed. We always think about health and safety and we had an open date [Feb. 23]. We think Boston will be very quiet [Monday]."

The semifinal round games were postponed one day due to a snowstorm that hit the East Coast. The postponement on Monday will be the fourth in the history of the event.

"It's the right call,'' Boston University athletic director Drew Marrochello said, according to BostonHerald.com. "It's definitely the right decision. The schools and the TD Garden are sensitive to each other's needs, but we're also sensitive to the patrons and fans that make this such a special event."
