WASHINGTON -- Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason had to be helped to the locker room after sustaining a lower-body injury in the second period against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, the team announced via Twitter.
Mason was replaced by Ray Emery. He had made eight saves prior to leaving the game.
Mason will not accompany the Flyers when they play the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old, who recently returned after missing two weeks because of a lower-body injury, is 11-12-7 with a 2.30 goals-against average and .925 save percentage this season.
The Flyers plan to recall goaltender Anthony Stolarz from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
