Benching in Vancouver, missed practice cloud Kane's future with Jets

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg forward Evander Kane missed practice today to meet with team doctors, according to Jets head coach Paul Maurice.

Kane's absence comes two days after he was held out of the Jets' 3-2 loss to the Canucks in his hometown of Vancouver.

Kane's future in Winnipeg has recently been a topic of speculation.

He's in the middle of a six-year, US$31.5-million contract that expires in 2018.

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals and added 12 assists in 37 games this season.
