PREDATORS RALLY TO REMAIN ATOP LEAGUE STANDINGS

Mike Fisher (1-2—3) and Colin Wilson (1-1—2) scored less than five minutes apart in the third period to lift the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, their franchise record ninth straight home win.

* At 33-11-6 (72 points), the Predators continue to occupy first place in the NHL. Their 20 home wins and 41 home points share second and third in the League, respectively.

* Fisher matched a career high with three points for the second time in his past four games. He ranks eighth on the Predators with 13-12—25 in 29 GP this season.

* Wilson has 16-19—35 in 48 GP this season, matching career highs for goals and points set in 2010-11 and 2011-12, respectively. His four game-winning goals are one shy of his personal best also set in 2011-12.

* Seth Jones and Shea Weber scored a shorthanded goal and power-play goal, respectively, in the first period. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, it marked the first time in franchise history that Predators defensemen scored both a shorthanded and power-play goal in the same game. Roman Josi (0-1—1) also recorded a point for the Predators. Elias says Predators defensemen have combined for more goals (34) than any team in the NHL and are tied with the Flames for the most points among defensemen (127).

* Carter Hutton made 25 saves, including a sprawling stick save to preserve Nashville's 4-3 lead late in the third period, to extend his personal point streak to five games (3-0-2).

GETZLAF CAPS DUCKS' COMEBACK IN OVERTIME

Ryan Getzlaf scored 45 seconds into overtime and Corey Perry (2-1—3) had his fifth three-point game of the season as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 to improve to 7-2-0 in their past nine games.

* With the victory, the Ducks (33-12-6, 72 points) increased their lead to 11 points atop the Pacific Division and kept pace with the Predators (33-11-6, 72 points) for top spot in the NHL. Nashville, however holds one game in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NSH: 29, ANA: 26).

* Perry eclipsed 20 goals for the seventh time in 10 NHL seasons. He now has 6-5—11 in his past eight games and ranks second on the Ducks with 35 points despite playing in only 36 games.

* Getzlaf scored his sixth career overtime goal (last: Nov. 22, 2013 vs. TBL) to tie Teemu Selanne for first on Anaheim's all-time list. He leads the Ducks with 16-36—52 in 50 games.

* Frederik Andersen made 28 saves to earn his 28th win of the season, which ranks second in the NHL behind Pekka Rinne (29). Overall, he tied Bill Durnan (MTL in December 1944) as the fastest goaltender in NHL history to record 48 career wins, accomplishing the feat in 65 career decisions.

* Devante Smith-Pelly (9:31) and Perry (15:52) each scored in the third period to help the Ducks erase a two-goal deficit. They faced a 2-1 deficit in the second period before Ryan Kesler (1-1—2) scored.

* The Ducks played their 18th overtime/shootout game of the season (51 GP), matching their total for the 2013-14 season. They improved to 23-0-6 in one-goal games this season and remain the only club without a regulation loss in such games. Earlier this season, the Ducks set an NHL record for most consecutive home wins by a one-goal margin (discounting losses or ties), with 11 in a row from Nov. 12 to Jan. 11.

BLUES RALLY TO KEEP PACE, EXTEND STREAKS

Vladimir Tarasenko forced overtime with his goal at 16:50 of the third period and Jaden Schwartz scored a highlight-reel goal 1:16 into overtime to help the St. Louis Blues extend their winning streak to six games with a 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Blues also earned a point for the 12th consecutive game, matching a franchise record last accomplished from Nov. 24 to Dec. 26, 2000 (11-0-1).

* At 33-13-4 (70 points), the Blues trail only the Predators (33-11-6, 72 points) and Ducks (33-12-6, 72 points) for first place in the NHL.

* The Blues have points in nine straight games at Scottrade Center dating to Dec. 29 vs. COL (8-0-1). They rank second in the NHL with 20 home wins (tied) and 42 home points.

* Schwartz scored his first career overtime goal and fourth game-winner of the season, which shares second on the club with Paul Stastny. Schwartz ranks second on the Blues in goals (18) and third in points (41) in 43 GP this season.

* Brian Elliott made 30 saves to stretch his personal winning streak to five games and point streak to nine. Per Elias, Elliott became the first Blues goaltender to record an assist in overtime since Darrell May on Nov. 3, 1985 at WPG; the assist was the fourth of Elliott's career. He leads the NHL in goals-against average (1.95) and ranks fourth in save percentage (.929) in 25 games played.

SBISA'S OT HEROICS RALLY CANUCKS

Ronalds Kenins tied the game with 7:28 left in regulation and Luca Sbisa scored the game-winner 36 seconds into overtime as the Vancouver Canucks erased a pair of one-goal deficits to defeat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 and improve to 11-3-2 all-time against the Jets/Thrashers franchise.

* With the victory, the Canucks (28-18-3, 59 points) passed the idle Calgary Flames (28-20-3, 59 points) into third place in the Pacific Division. The teams are tied in terms of points but Vancouver has two games in hand and holds the ROW tiebreaker (VAN: 26, CGY: 25).

* Sbisa scored his third career game-winner and first in overtime. Two of his three goals in 43 games this season have been game-winners (Oct. 26 vs. WSH), compared to only one such goal in his first 265 games.

* Kenins also scored on Sunday vs. MIN and now has two goals in three career NHL games.

AVALANCHE STAGE ANOTHER LATE RALLY

After Ryan O'Reilly (6:12) and Tyson Barrie (19:40) helped the Avalanche erase a third-period deficit, Maxime Talbot scored the game-deciding goal in the 11th round of the shootout for a 3-2 win against the Dallas Stars, helping the Avalanche improve to 4-1-3 in their past eight games.

* With the victory, the Avalanche moved within four points of the idle Flames (28-20-3, 59 points) for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

* Per Elias, the Avalanche have overcome a multigoal third-period deficit to earn at least a point on five occasions this season, including three wins (3-0-2).

* Barrie's goal marked the fourth time this season that Colorado has scored a tying goal with its goalie pulled in favor of an extra skater, all in the past six games. The Avalanche have posted a 2-0-2 record in those games. The others: Jan. 17 (Nathan MacKinnon at 19:53 of 3rd; 3-2 SO loss), Jan. 21 vs. BOS (O'Reilly at 18:15 of 3rd; 3-2 SO win) and Jan. 27 at NSH (Nick Holden at 19:24 of 3rd; 4-3 OT loss).

* Talbot netted the game-deciding goal on his first career shootout attempt. MacKinnon improved to 6-for-9 (66.7 percent) this season while Daniel Briere and Gabriel Landeskog also scored in the shootout.

* Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves and denied eight of 11 attempts in the shootout to improve to 9-4-2 with a 2.16 GAA, .933 save percentage and three shutouts in his past 15 games.

* Colorado improved to 7-1-0 in its past eight games against Dallas dating to Oct. 15, 2013, including a 3-0-0 mark this season.

DUBNYK (AGAIN) GUIDES WILD TO SHUTOUT WIN

Devan Dubnyk made 24 saves for his 12th career shutout and guided the Minnesota Wild to their fourth consecutive victory, 3-0 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Minnesota has won four straight in regulation for the first time since a six-game stretch from March 14-25, 2013.

* The Wild (24-20-6, 54 points) have points in seven of their past eight games (6-1-1) and moved within five points of the idle Flames (28-20-3, 59 points) in the crowded race for the Western Conference wild-card spots.

* Dubnyk shares fifth in the NHL with four shutouts this season, including three in eight games with the Wild. Per Elias, Dubnyk is the fastest goaltender in franchise history to record three shutouts, besting Ilya Bryzgalov's previous mark of 10 games.

* Playing in his 200th NHL game and making his eighth consecutive start, Dubnyk improved to 6-1-0 with a 1.48 GAA and .945 save percentage in a Wild uniform.

* Mikko Koivu (1-1—2) had his 111th career multipoint game (fifth this season), including his first game-winning goal since March 31, 2014 at LAK.

* The Wild outshot the Blackhawks 24-5 in the second period to establish a franchise record for shots in a single period. Marco Scandella (0-1—1) fired a game-high eight shots on net to match the Wild record for shots by a defenseman in a single game (Brent Burns in 2011 and Jared Spurgeon this season).

* Zach Parise had an assist and now has 7-2—9 in his past eight games, including a three-game point streak (2-1—3). He leads the Wild with 21-18—39 in 43 GP.

HOLTBY, BROUWER POWER CAPITALS

Braden Holtby made 27 saves and Troy Brouwer scored twice, including his third game-winning goal of the season, to lift the Washington Capitals to a 4-0 win against the Los Angeles Kings, their first regulation home win over the Kings since April 4, 1998 (1-6-2 since).

* With the victory, the Capitals (26-15-10, 62 points) passed the idle Boston Bruins (27-16-7, 61 points) for the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington also tied the idle New York Rangers (29-15-4, 62 points) for third place in the Metropolitan Division. New York, however, has three games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NYR: 27, WSH: 25).

* Holtby recorded his NHL-leading sixth shutout of the season (tied with Marc-Andre Fleury) and second in his past three games. Per Elias, since the start of 2012-13, Holtby is tied with Boston's Tuukka Rask for the NHL lead with 14 shutouts. He has allowed only one goal over his past three games and is within three blank sheets of matching Washington's single-season shutout record held by Jim Carey (nine in 1995-96).

* Holtby recorded his career-high 24th win of the season. He ranks fifth in the NHL in GAA (2.17) and sixth in save percentage (.925) in 44 games.

* Playing in his 500th NHL game, Brouwer had his 15th career multigoal performance and first since April 10, 2014 at CAR. His second goal was his seventh power-play goal of the season, which ranks second on the Capitals behind Alex Ovechkin (14).

* Nicklas Backstrom (143-405—548 in 546 GP) had 1-1—2 to surpass Mike Ridley (218-329—547 in 588 GP) for sole possession of seventh on the franchise's all-time points list. Backstrom had his 17th multipoint game of the season and fifth in his past eight games (3-9—12 in that span).

* The Capitals have points in 11 of their past 12 home games, outscoring opponents 36-21 in that span.

AROUND THE RINKS

Highlights from the other games Tuesday:

* Jimmy Hayes scored twice, including the game-winner early in the third period, and Al Montoya stopped 32 shots to help the Florida Panthers defeat the New York Islanders 4-2 and snap a two-game skid. Hayes scored his second career game-winning goal (Nov. 28 vs. OTT) and snapped a seven-game point drought to extend career highs in goals (15) and points (22). Brandon Pirri (1-1—2) and Nick Bjugstad (0-2—2) had two points for the Panthers; Pirri has 5-1—6 in his past six games, including an active three-game goal streak, after posting 3-1—4 in his first 19 games of the season.

* Mike Cammalleri scored at 5:02 of the third period to lift the Devils past the Ottawa Senators 2-1, their fourth victory in their past five games. It extended their point streak to five games. The Devils last posted a point streak of at least five games from March 23 to April 5, 2014 (4-0-3). Cammalleri scored his League-leading (tied) seventh game-winning goal of the season and fourth in his past seven games. Per Elias, Cammalleri has scored 12 game-winning goals in his team's last 26 regulation/overtime wins dating to March 12, 2014 (four w/ CGY); he leads all players in that span.

* Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored his NHL-best seventh game-winning goal of the season (tied with Cammalleri) to help the Arizona Coyotes to a 4-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Coyotes won three of the final four games of their eight-game road stretch (3-3-2). Ekman-Larsson established a new career high for game-winning goals and power-play goals (nine) while also matching a personal best for goals in a season (15 set in 80 games in 2013-14). Keith Yandle had 0-2—2 to take the League lead in power-play assists (22) and move into a tie with St. Louis' Kevin Shattenkirk for second in power-play points (24), one behind Philadelphia's Claude Giroux (25).

* Former Montreal Canadiens captain Brian Gionta scored the game-winning goal to help the Buffalo Sabres halt a 14-game losing skid with a 3-2 win. The Sabres have a 3-0-1 record in their season series against the Canadiens. The victory was Buffalo's first road win since Nov. 29 (also at Montreal, 4-3 SO) and its first regulation victory overall since Dec. 11 vs. CGY. Gionta now has 254-245—499 in 814 career games. Jhonas Enroth made 32 saves, including 14 in the third period, to pick up his 12th win of the season.

Islanders forward Anders Lee scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season to move into a tie for third in rookie scoring . . . Islanders forward John Tavares had an assist while playing in his 400th NHL game. Teammate Josh Bailey recorded his 200th NHL point . . . Senators defenseman Jared Cowen (200) played in a milestone game . . . Stars teammates Patrick Eaves (3-1—4) and Jamie Benn (3-3—6) each had one point to extend point streaks to four games . . . Devils forward Adam Henrique snapped a 12-game goal drought with his 11th goal of the season . . . Tampa Bay's Cedric Paquette stretched his goal streak to four games, marking the longest such stretch by a rookie in franchise history (via Elias). He also has a five-game point streak (6-1—7), the longest by a Lightning rookie since Ondrej Palat's six-game stretch from April 1-11, 2014. Teammate Jonathan Drouin stretched his assist/point streak to four games. He ranks fourth among rookie skaters with 21 assists this season . . . Brad Malone converted on a penalty shot to stretch his point streak to three games. It marked the first Hurricanes penalty shot since March 7, 2014 when Jeff Skinner scored against the Rangers . . . Coyotes forward Lauri Korpikoski had an assist to stretch his point streak to four games (2-3—5) . . . Coyotes forward Brendan Shinnimin had his first NHL assist/point (6 GP) . . . Kings mascot Bailey took over the NHL's Twitter account to live tweet the premiere of Road to the NHL Stadium Series, which debuted on Tuesday night ahead of the 2015 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series on Saturday, Feb. 21.
