WINNIPEG -- Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky left the game Wednesday against the Winnipeg Jets in the second period with a lower-body injury.
Bobrovsky stretched his left pad out to make a save 7:44 into the period and remained on the ice. Curtis McElhinney replaced Bobrovsky, who was helped off the ice and went directly to the dressing room.
General manager Jarmo Kekalainen told the Columbus Dispatch after the 4-0 loss that Bobrovsky is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday in Columbus and that it's likely Bobrovsky will not participate in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday at Nationwide Arena and in related events this weekend.
"There is not much I can do about it," Kekalainen told the Dispatch. "The good thing is that we have an All-Star goaltender in the American (Hockey) League, Anton Forsberg, and if Sergei can't play, he'll be coming up and getting an opportunity with Curtis (McElhinney) to show what they have. Forsberg has been unbelievable for a team that has been in first place, so we'll see how he does at this level again."
Bobrovsky, who is one of three players named to represent the Blue Jackets at the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game in Columbus on Sunday, is 16-15-2 with a .913 save percentage and 2.85 goals-against average. He allowed three goals on 12 shots before the injury.
