PHILADELPHIA -- Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday with 4:24 left in the first period after being hit into the boards by Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo.

Penguins coach Mike Johnston did not provide information on Letang's status following the 3-2 overtime loss.

"Any time there's a hit like that, you are always going to be cautious," Johnston said. "We'll see how he is tomorrow morning."

Letang passed the puck in the Penguins zone when Rinaldo hit Letang from behind. Letang stayed down on the ice before skating to the locker room accompanied by a member of the Penguins training staff.

Rinaldo was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
