Sabres reassign forwards Ellis, Varone to AHL
Forwards Matt Ellis and Philip Varone were reassigned Monday by the Buffalo Sabres to Rochester of the American Hockey League.

Forwards Matt Ellis and Philip Varone were reassigned Monday by the Buffalo Sabres to Rochester of the American Hockey League.

Ellis, 33 is scoreless in four NHL games this season. He has seven goals and 13 assists in 36 games with the Americans.

Varone, 24, has two goals in seven NHL games this season. He is tied for the Rochester scoring lead with 29 points (eight goals) in 36 games.
