ANAHEIM -- New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider left the game against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday with an upper-body injury. He did not return.

Schneider was replaced by Keith Kinkaid to start the second period. Schneider may have been injured when he was hit by a shot by Ducks left wing Matt Beleskey.

New Jersey interim co-coach Lou Lamoriello said the extent of Schneider's injury won't be known until he is evaluated later.

"He got hit with a shot in the first period. He's feeling better right now, but he couldn't go back in," Lamoriello said.

Schneider made his NHL-leading 40th start and allowed one goal on 15 shots.

Kinkaid made 21 saves on 25 shots in a 5-1 loss.
