PALAT PROPELS LIGHTNING TO TOP SPOT IN EAST

Down 2-1 after 40 minutes, Ondrej Palat scored the tying goal early in the third period and the game-winner with 8:01 remaining in regulation to lift the Lightning to their sixth consecutive home win, 3-2 against the Edmonton Oilers.

* The Lightning (28-14-4, 60 points) again passed the idle New York Islanders (29-13-1, 59 points) into first place in the Eastern Conference. New York has three games in hand, but Tampa Bay holds the ROW tiebreaker (TBL: 27, NYI: 23).

* Palat had his first multigoal game since April 8, 2014 vs. TOR and his third game-winner of the season (seventh of his career). He has 3-14—17 in his past 11 games, including six multipoint performances.

* Steven Stamkos stretched his goal streak to four games (5-0—5). His 26 goals this season are tied for the NHL lead with Tyler Seguin and Rick Nash.

* Tyler Johnson (0-2—2) had his sixth multiassist performance of the season in his return from a one-game absence. He has 17-31—48 in 44 games to share third in NHL scoring; he is tied for fifth in assists (with Kevin Shattenkirk).

* Ben Bishop stopped 30 shots, including all 14 he faced in the third period, to improve to 22-8-2; he has won six of his past seven decisions.

* The Lightning improved to 5-1-0 in their past six home games against Edmonton since the start of the 2002-03 season. Overall, Tampa Bay is tied for the NHL lead for home wins (17) and home points (35).

DATSYUK'S OT HEROICS HELP RED WINGS SURVIVE LATE RALLY

After the Detroit Red Wings had their 2-0 lead erased in the third period, Pavel Datsyuk scored with 2.2 seconds left in overtime for a 3-2 victory to halt the St. Louis Blues winning streak at five games.

* With the victory, the Red Wings (24-11-9, 57 points) moved into a tie with the Montreal Canadiens (27-13-3, 57 points) in terms of points for second in the Atlantic Division and kept pace with the Eastern Conference-leading Lightning (28-14-4, 60 points).

* Datsyuk scored his seventh career overtime goal and first since April 5, 2013 at COL. Per Elias, Datsyuk's seven overtime goals are tied for fourth on the franchise's all-time list with Henrik Zetterberg and Herbie Lewis; Sergei Fedorov leads with 12.

* Despite playing in only 33 games this season, Datsyuk ranks second on the club with 15-17—32. He has more career points against the Blues (25-50—75, 65 GP) than against any other opponent.

* The Red Wings surrendered a tying goal to Alexander Steen at 19:12 of the third period before winning in overtime. Per Elias, the Red Wings last won a game in which they allowed a tying goal in the final minute of regulation on Feb. 26, 2014 at Montreal. In that game, Brian Gionta forced extra time with 29 seconds left in regulation before Gustav Nyquist scored the winner at 4:32 of overtime.

* Petr Mrazek stopped 25 shots to improve to 7-3-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 11 games. He improved to 3-0-0 in four games against the Blues.

* Tomas Tatar scored his team-leading 18th goal of the season (44 GP) to move within one of his career high set in 73 games last season. Joakim Andersson added his first goal since March 30, 2014.

RASK, BRUINS STAY HOT IN SHUTOUT OF RANGERS

Tuukka Rask made 30 saves, including 14 in the second period, to record his 25th career shutout and backstop the Bruins to a 3-0 win against the New York Rangers, their fifth straight win and ninth consecutive game with a point (6-0-3).

* With the victory, the Bruins (24-15-6, 54 points) leapfrogged the Rangers (24-12-4, 52 points) for the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. New York, however, has four games in hand.

* Rask had his second shutout of the season to improve to 7-0-3 in his past 10 games. That matches the longest personal point streak of Rask's career (9-0-1 from March 2-30, 2014). Rask is the first Bruins goaltender to shut out the Rangers since Tim Thomas made 31 saves in a 1-0 victory on April 4, 2009.

* The Bruins improved to 6-0-2 in their last eight regular-season games against the Rangers dating to April 1, 2012, including a 3-0-0 sweep of their season series in 2013-14.

* The Bruins have earned points in each of their past nine home games (6-0-3) and improved to 15-6-4 at TD Garden.

* Torey Krug (0-2—2) extended his point streak to five games (0-7—7), matching a career high (also 2-3—5 from Nov. 5-14, 2014). This marks the longest assist streak of Krug's career and the longest by a Bruins defenseman since Kyle McLaren had assists in six consecutive games from March 17-27, 1999.

* Krug has back-to-back two-assist performances; he had eight assists through his first 36 games.

* Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Loui Eriksson all scored for the Bruins. Bergeron's goal was his team-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season while Krejci pushed his point streak to five games (1-5—6).

PAVELEC, JETS DEFEAT STARS TO ADVANCE PLAYOFF POSITION

Ondrej Pavelec made a season-high 46 saves, including 22 in the second period, to lead the Jets to their second straight victory, 2-1 against the Dallas Stars.

* The Jets (23-14-8, 54 points) continue to occupy the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference and moved within four points of the idle Chicago Blackhawks (28-13-2, 58 points) and Blues (27-13-4, 58 points), who lost in overtime to Detroit, in the Central Division. Chicago and St. Louis, however, hold at least one game in hand on Winnipeg.

* Pavelec's 46 saves were his second-highest total in a non-overtime game, behind a 50-save performance on Oct. 31, 2009 at Ottawa. He improved to 20-9-7 when facing at least 40 shots overall in his career.

* Per Elias, Pavelec's performance is tied for the fifth most saves in a non-overtime game in franchise history; Chris Mason set the franchise record for saves in a regulation game with 52 on Nov. 3, 2010 in a 4-3 win at FLA.

* Pavelec's 22-save second period was the highest single-period save total by a Jets goaltender since the club relocated to Winnipeg. Mason was the last to stop as many shots in one period for the franchise; he also turned aside 22 shots in the second period of the 2010 game at Florida.

* Evander Kane scored his fourth career shorthanded goal and 18th career game-winner; he has scored in each of his last three games. Michael Frolik also scored to push his point streak to four games (1-4—5). Mathieu Perreault stretched his streak to five games (6-3—9).

OFFENSE, DUBNYK POWER WILD NETMINDER'S DEBUT

Making his Minnesota Wild debut, Devan Dubnyk made 18 saves to post his 10th career shutout and lead his new club to a 7-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres, its first win since Jan. 2 (snapping a six-game skid, 0-5-1).

* Per Elias, Dubnyk is the first goaltender in franchise history to record a shutout victory in his team debut. Dwayne Roloson also posted a shutout in his Wild debut on Oct. 6, 2001 but earned a 0-0 tie at SJ.

* Dubnyk, who was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday, improved to 10-5-2 with a 2.58 GAA, .919 save percentage and two shutouts in 20 games this season.

* Jason Pominville (0-3—3) matched a career high with three assists in a game (last: Nov. 16 vs. WPG); he leads Wild players in assists (27) and points (36) in 43 games. A second-round pick (No. 55) by the Sabres in the 2001 NHL Draft, Pominville has 2-4—6 in four games against his former club.

* Thomas Vanek (1-1—2), the fifth pick by Buffalo in the 2003 draft, scored his first goal against his former club. He now has scored against all 30 NHL teams.

* Zach Parise (1-1—2), Kyle Brodziak (1-1—2), Erik Haula (1-1—2) and Mikko Koivu (0-2—2) also had multiple points for the Wild. Parise ranks second on the club with 32 points and is tied for first with 15 goals in 36 games.

* Per Elias, Minnesota's seven-goal margin of victory is the largest in any win in franchise history. Their previous high in a shutout win was a 6-0 victory on March 18, 2014 at NYI.

* The Wild have won four straight against the Sabres, outscoring them 19-5.

LIKE A BRICK WALL

The Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators also used strong goaltending performances to earn victories:

* Ryan Miller stopped all 30 shots he faced to record his 33rd career shutout and second in as many games vs. PHI (also April 1, 2014 w/ STL) and help the Canucks snap a three-game skid with a 4-0 win. Miller is tied with Jaroslav Halak and Braden Holtby for third among all goaltenders with four shutouts this season. With the victory, the Canucks (24-15-3, 51 points) passed the idle Los Angeles Kings (20-14-10, 50 points) into third in the Pacific Division. Nick Bonino netted his fourth game-winning goal of the season (42 GP); he had two such goals in his first 189 games. Brothers Daniel Sedin (0-2—2) and Henrik Sedin (1-1—2) each had multiple points; they rank first and second on the team in scoring with 9-29—38 and 10-28—38, respectively.

* Antti Niemi made 24 saves, including 12 in the first period, to backstop the Sharks to a 3-1 win, their eighth in their past nine games against the Maple Leafs (dating to Dec. 3, 2005). Niemi has a 4-1-0 record with a 1.81 GAA and .931 save percentage in five games against Toronto. Tyler Kennedy and Patrick Marleau scored 11 seconds apart in the first period, marking the two fastest Sharks goals since Dec. 6, 2010 when Niclas Wallin and Logan Couture scored eight seconds apart in a 5-2 win against Detroit. The franchise record for fastest two goals in a game is seven seconds, set by Larry DePalma and Dave Snuggerud on Nov. 5, 1991 vs. BUF.

* After posting a shutout in his season debut Saturday, Joni Ortio made 27 saves to lead the Flames to a 4-1 win and a 4-0-0 mark against the Coyotes this season. Ortio improved to 6-4-0 in 11 NHL games. David Jones (1-1—2) scored his first game-winning goal of the season to stretch his point streak to four games (1-4—5); this also marks the first four-game assist streak of his career. Sean Monahan (1-1—2), Dennis Wideman (0-2—2), Lance Bouma (0-2—2) also had multiple points for the Flames, who scored three unanswered goals in the third period. With the victory, the Flames (23-18-3, 49 points) moved within one point of the idle Kings (20-14-10, 50 points) for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

* Craig Anderson made 25 saves, including 14 in the second period, and the Senators scored three unanswered goals to earn a 4-1 win against the Canadiens, their first win in their last five games against Montreal (1-2-2). Anderson earned his 12th win of the season and boosted his save percentage to .929, which ranks fourth in the NHL. Jean-Gabriel Pageau (1-1—2) matched a regular-season career high with two points and scored his first goal since Dec. 16, 2013 vs. STL; three of his five career goals have been game-winners.

IGINLA TIES BOSSY IN AVALANCHE VICTORY

With the score tied in the third period, Nick Holden and Jarome Iginla each scored to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-2 win against the Florida Panthers their sixth win in their last nine games (6-2-1).

* Iginla scored his 573rd career goal to tie Mike Bossy for 20th on the NHL's all-time list. He also moved within three points of 1,200 in his NHL career, which would tie with Dino Ciccarelli for 46th on the NHL's all-time scoring list.

* Iginla and linemate Alex Tanguay (0-2—2) have points in each of their last three games. Tanguay paces the club with 13-18—31 in 43 games while Iginla ranks second with 13-17—30 in 45 games. They were teammates for parts of five seasons with the Flames, finishing first and second in team scoring in both 2006-07 and 2010-11.

* Holden scored his third career game-winner and first since March 16, 2014 at OTT. Tyson Barrie had 1-1—2 to move into sole possession of third in team scoring (4-24—28 in 45 GP).

LOOSE PUCKS

Oilers forward Benoit Pouliot scored twice, including his first career shorthanded goal, to push his career-high goal streak to four games (6-0—6). This marks the longest goal streak by an Oiler since 2011-12 when both Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall had two such streaks . . . Senators forwards Bobby Ryan (1-4—5), David Legwand (1-3—4) and Mark Stone (1-4—5) all extended point streaks to four games . . . Mikkel Boedker extended his goal streak to four games (5-1—6), marking the longest goal streak by a Coyotes player since Radim Vrbata's four-game streak from Dec. 10-16, 2009 . . . Flames forward Mikael Backlund scored to push his point/goal streak to four games (4-2—6), the longest by a Flames player since Sean Monahan from Oct. 4-11, 2013 (also 4 games) . . . Oilers forward Boyd Gordon (600) and Canadiens forward David Desharnais (300) each played in a milestone game . . . Max Pacioretty extended his career-long goal streak to six games (7-1—8), marking the longest by a Canadiens player since Denis Savard from Feb. 7-Mar. 1, 1991 (nine games) . . . Blues forward Alexander Steen pushed his goal streak to four games and point streak to eight (6-8—14). Teammates David Backes stretched his point streak to five games (7-4—11) and Vladimir Tarasenko to four games (2-4—6) . . . The Canucks improved to 8-1-0 against Metropolitan Division opponents . . . Cam Talbot started his ninth game of the season (11 GP) to become the first Rangers goaltender other than Henrik Lundqvist to start against the Bruins since Kevin Weekes on April 8, 2006 . . . Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo played in his 837th career game to tie Jacques Plante for 11th all-time among NHL goaltenders . . . The NHL fined Anaheim Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen for elbowing Maple Leafs forward David Booth . . . The NHL announced Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak and Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will serve as injury replacements at the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game. They will replace injured goalies Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators and Jimmy Howard of the Red Wings.
