OHL Roundup: Remi Elie scores a hat trick as Otters down Frontenacs

ERIE, Pa. - Remi Elie had a four-point night — including a hat trick — as the Erie Otters defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 7-4 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Alex DeBrincat, Kyle Pettit, Taylor Raddysh and Quentin Maksimovich also scored for Erie (30-9-3). Nick Betz added three assists for the No. 6 nationally-ranked Otters, who have now won three straight.

Robert Polesello, Roland McKeown, Lawson Crouse and Corey Pawley supplied the offence for Kingston (16-17-6).

Devin Williams started in net for Erie, playing 47 minutes and turning aside 15-of-18 shots. Daniel Dekoning made nine saves in 13 minutes of relief.

Lucas Peressini stopped 21 shots in 26:26 for the Frontenacs. He was replaced by Jeremy Helvig, who stopped 15-of-18 shots in 32:46 of relief.

The Otters went 0 for 2 on the man advantage while Kingston scored once on five chances.

BATTALION 4 ICEDOGS 3 (OT)

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Mike Amadio tied the game late in the third period and Ryan Kujawinski scored the winner in overtime as North Bay edged the IceDogs.

Kyle Wood and Hampus Olsson also chipped in for the Battalion (21-10-8).

Billy Jenkins, Brendan Perlini and Graham Knott scored for Niagara (17-21-3). The loss snaps a five-game winning streak.

STING 5 WHALERS 2

SARNIA, Ont. — Davis Brown scored the first of three first-period goals for the Sting as they topped Plymouth.

Jordan Kyrou and Jakob Chychrun both had power-play goals for Sarnia (22-15-5). Anthony Salintri and Alexandre Renaud chipped in with the others while Stephen Pierog had three assists.

Connor Chatham and Connor Sills responded for the Whalers (13-24-3).

GREYHOUNDS 3 STORM 2

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Nick Ritchie scored a power-play goal at 15:35 of the third period to help lift the Greyhounds over Guelph.

Jared McCann and Sergey Tolchinsky also found the back of the net for Sault Ste. Marie (32-9-2). The win was the fifth straight for the No. 4 Greyhounds.

Zac Leslie opened the scoring 2:41 into the first for the Storm (23-16-3). Jason Dickinson added a goal on the man advantage 17 seconds into the second.

SAGINAW, Mich. — Blake Clarke and Devon Paliani both scored in the first period as the Spirit dominated Sudbury.

Connor Brown and Jesse Barwell also scored for Saginaw (19-20-2), which scored four straight. The win also ended a three-game losing streak.

Kyle Capobianco replied for the Wolves in the third period (7-32-2). Sudbury has now lost its last 11 outings.

KITCHENER, Ont. — Connor Bunnaman scored the third of three goals in the second period as the Rangers edged No. 1 Oshawa.

Ryan MacInnis would score shortly after for Kitchener (18-14-8). Brandon Robinson also chipped in.

Kenny Huether opened the scoring for the Generals (31-7-2) with Chris Carlisle adding the other.

KNIGHTS 5 SPITFIRES 2

LONDON, Ont. — Christian Dvorak struck twice and added two assists as the Knights scored three in the third period to beat Windsor.

Mitchell Marner also had a four-point night for London (25-13-3), scoring once. Owen MacDonald and Matt Rupert supplied the rest of the offence. The win ended a three-game losing streak for the Knights.

Sam Povorozniouk and Cristiano DiGiacinto had goals for the Spitfires (18-23-1).

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban struck twice to lead Belleville past the Steelheads.

Stephen Harper had a power-play goal and an assist for the Bulls (19-18-4). Adam Laishram and Niki Petti also found the back of the net for the Bulls, who snapped a four-game losing skid.

Sean Day had a pair of goals for Mississauga (19-20-3), with Nick Zottl adding the other.

OTTAWA — Captain Travis Konecny broke a tie in the third period and Brendan Bell would add another 23 seconds later as the 67's doubled up Owen Sound.

Sam Studnicka and Nathan Todd, on the power play, rounded out the attack for Ottawa (21-18-2).

Chris Bigras scored with the man advantage for the Attack (18-13-9) with Zach Nastasiuk adding the other.
