FOLIGNO, TOEWS NAMED TEAM CAPTAINS FOR ALL-STAR WEEKEND

Nick Foligno of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks have been named team captains for the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus. The NHL All-Star teams are now designated as Team Foligno and Team Toews.

In addition, Drew Doughty of the Kings and Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks have been named alternate captains of Team Foligno, while Ryan Getzlaf of the Ducks and Rick Nash of the Rangers have been named alternate captains of Team Toews.

The captains and alternate captains were selected by NHL Hockey Operations in consultation with players selected as 2015 NHL All-Stars and will lead the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game team selection process during the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft presented by DraftKings on Friday, Jan. 23.

The captains and alternate captains will set their team rosters for the Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Jan. 24. As captains, Foligno and Toews will wear a "C" on their jerseys, while Doughty, Kane, Getzlaf and Nash will wear an "A" on theirs.

Team Foligno is designated as the home team and will wear the previously unveiled black Reebok NHL All-Star jerseys, helmets, socks and pants. Team Toews is designated as the visiting team and will wear the white jerseys, helmets and socks, along with black pants.

Team Foligno will be led by Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter and members of his Los Angeles staff and Team Toews will be led by Nashville Predators coach Peter Laviolette and members of his staff.

PERRY, ANDERSEN POWER DUCKS

Corey Perry (3-0—3) had his third hat trick of the season and Frederik Andersen posted his second career shutout to power the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, their fourth win in their last five games (4-1-0).

* At 28-10-6 (62 points), the Ducks continue to sit atop the Pacific Division and moved into a tie in terms of points with the idle Predators (29-9-4, 62 points) for first place in the NHL. Nashville, however, holds two games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NSH: 25, ANA: 22).

* The Ducks snapped a six-game skid against the Maple Leafs dating to Oct. 26, 2009. It also marked their first home win and first regulation win against the Maple Leafs since Jan. 9, 2008 when Perry tallied 1-2—3 and Jean-Sebastien Giguere registered a 28-save shutout in a 5-0 win.

* Perry had his eighth career hat trick to tie Paul Kariya for second on the franchise's all-time list behind Teemu Selanne (13). This marks the second time Perry has had three hat tricks in a season (also three in 2010-11); St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko and Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin are the only others with multiple three-goal games in 2014-15.

* Perry is the first Ducks player to score a hat trick against the Maple Leafs. He leads the Ducks in goals (18) and shares third in points (27) despite playing only 29 games this season.

* Andersen made 28 shots saves, including 11 in the second period, to earn his fourth straight victory and move into sole possession of second with 24 wins. He improved to 44-11-5 in his first 60 NHL decisions.

* Kyle Palmieri scored his third game-winning goal of the season (12th of his career). He has 5-5—10 in his past 11 games after compiling 3-0—3 in his first nine.

* After being named as an alternate captain for the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend, Ryan Getzlaf (0-2—2) had his 16th multipoint game of the season. He has 13-34—47 in 43 games to share third in the NHL in assists and tie for fifth in points.

HOLTBY, CAPITALS BLANK FLYERS

Braden Holtby made 21 saves for his 15th career shutout as the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 for their third straight win and ninth consecutive game with a point (7-0-2 dating to Dec. 27).

* At 24-11-8 (56 points), the Capitals sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division and are three points behind the New York Islanders (29-13-1, 59 points) for the top spot in the division and Eastern Conference.

* The Capitals have earned points in 18 of their past 19 games since Dec. 4, outscoring opponents 58-36 during that span. Per Elias, the Capitals have a point in at least 18 of 19 games for the first time since a 22-game stretch from Jan. 13 to March 10, 2010 (18-1-3).

* Making his franchise-record 26th consecutive appearance and career-high 20th straight start, Holtby improved to 22-8-7 with a 2.17 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and four shutouts in 38 games. Only Cory Schneider (39 GP) has appeared in more games this season among goaltenders.

* Holtby has a 14-2-4 record during his current string of starts. His 14 wins since Dec. 2 mark the most in the NHL during that span.

* Holtby shares third in the NHL with three shutouts. Per Elias, Holtby's only other 1-0 shutout victory in the NHL was in Game 2 of Washington's first-round series of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 2, 2013 against the Rangers.

* The Capitals have won seven consecutive home games, including a 3-2 win over the Blackhawks in the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day at Nationals Park. Per Elias, the Capitals last won seven straight home games from Dec. 20, 2011 to Jan. 15, 2012.

* Jason Chimera scored the lone goal just 3:13 into the first period. It was his 24th career regular-season game-winning goal and first since March 25, 2012 vs. MIN.

PACIORETTY LEADS LATE RALLY IN CANADIENS VICTORY

Max Pacioretty scored twice, including the game-winning goal with 4:37 remaining in regulation, to help the Montreal Canadiens erase a 2-0 deficit with three unanswered goals in the final 8:30 of the third period for a 3-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Montreal improved to 4-1-1 in six all-time visits to Columbus.

* With the victory, the Canadiens (27-12-3, 57 points) moved to within one point of the idle Tampa Bay Lightning (27-14-4, 58 points) for first place in the Atlantic Division. They also are among seven teams within seven points of the Islanders (29-13-1, 59 points) for top spot in the Eastern Conference.

* The Canadiens improved to 6-0-0 as visitors since Dec. 23 at NYI, marking their longest road winning streak since an 8-0-0 stretch from Jan. 21 to Feb. 21, 1982. Overall, the Canadiens are second in the League in road wins (14) and road points (29).

* Elias says the Canadiens last won in regulation after trailing by at least two goals in the third period while being shut out (to that point) on Oct. 6, 1993 vs. Hartford. In that game, the Canadiens faced a 2-0 deficit after 40 minutes before scoring four goals in the third period, including Gilbert Dionne's game-winning goal with 2:18 left in regulation.

* Pacioretty had his third multigoal game of the season to stretch his goal streak to five games. Per Elias, Pacioretty is just the fifth Canadiens player to score a goal in five straight team games in the past 17 seasons, following Brian Savage (Oct. 14-23, 1999), Michael Ryder (Dec. 10-20, 2005), Andrei Kostitsyn (Jan. 8-17, 2009) and Tomas Plekanec (Feb. 18-27, 2009) who all had five-game streaks.

* Overall, Pacioretty has 6-1—7 on his five-game point streak (his second of the season) and paces the team with 20-15—35 in 42 games. He has at least 20 goals in each of his past three 82-game seasons.

* Pacioretty scored his third game-winning goal of the season; he led the NHL with a career-high 11 such goals in 2013-14.

* Carey Price picked up his 23rd win of the season to move into a tie for third in the League with Jaroslav Halak. He also ranks in the top 10 in save percentage (6th; .927) and GAA (9th; 2.19).

* P.K. Subban tied the score at 2-2 with his ninth goal of the season while Andrei Markov had two assists.

* The Canadiens scored all three goals on the power play in a span of 3:53. Per Elias, the Canadiens last scored three power-play goals in less than four minutes on Jan. 14, 2006 when they scored three times on the man advantage in 2:21 against the San Jose Sharks.

DID YOU KNOW?

Blue Jackets forward Ryan Johansen scored his 16th goal of the season to extend his point streak to 11 games (7-6—13), setting a new franchise record. Johansen, who had a 10-game point streak earlier this season, holds the longest active point streak in the NHL and is tied with Evgeni Malkin (Oct. 9-Nov. 11) and Rick Nash (Nov. 19-Dec. 16) for the longest point streak this season.

* Kevin Connauton also scored for the Blue Jackets and now has 7-4—11 in 21 games since joining the club on Nov. 18. Per Elias, he is the first defenseman in Blue Jackets history to score at least seven goals in his first 21 games with the team. Connauton, who was Vancouver's third-round selection (No. 83) in the 2009 NHL Draft, had 1-9—10 in his first 44 games with the Stars.

STRONG SECOND PERIOD HELPS DEVILS SNAP ROAD SKID

The New Jersey Devils scored four goals in a span of just over eight minutes during the second period to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 5-3 and snap a six-game road skid (0-5-1 dating to Dec. 11).

* New Jersey scored four goals in a period for the second time this season (also Oct. 11 at FLA), including three goals in a span of 68 seconds by Steve Bernier, Martin Havlat and Mike Cammalleri.

* Per Elias, the Devils last scored three goals in 68 seconds or less on Nov. 23, 1991 when Kevin Todd, Peter Stastny and Douglas Brown each scored in a span of 42 seconds during the second period of a 5-5 tie at Philadelphia.

* Cammalleri (1-1—2) scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season and 45th of his career. Cammalleri, who was selected by the Kings in the 2001 NHL Draft (No. 49) and played his first five NHL seasons in Los Angeles, now has 10-6—16 in 19 games against his former club.

* Scott Gomez (0-2—2) and Michael Ryder (1-1—2) also had multipoint efforts for the Devils. Gomez has 4-10—14 in 21 games, surpassing his 46-game point total from 2013-14 (2-10—12 w/ FLA).

* Making his League-leading 39th appearance of the season, Cory Schneider stopped 23 shots to improve to 4-1-0 with a 1.40 GAA, .947 save percentage and one shutout in five games against the Kings.

* The Devils have points in nine of their past 10 visits to Los Angeles dating to Jan. 21, 1999 (7-1-2).
